After my maternal grandmother’s passing in August 2022, my aunt and mom asked me and my cousin to make her urn. I drew and painted loose representations of her October birth flowers, cosmos and marigolds, around the urn, with petals on the lid. My cousin strung together beads of similar coloring to our grandmother’s opal birthstone to lay around the neck of the piece. It was an honor to create something so special. And to make one last eternal piece for her, filled with intention and peaceful creation.
